Shopify → Merchant API check

Verify the feed before rebuilding every rule.

If Google Shopping filters, labels, or affected products look different during the Merchant API transition, compare the current source and issue export first. Google says Shopify app users do not need to perform the migration themselves.

01

Do not reinstall the app by default

Google says merchants using Shopify’s Google & YouTube app do not need to perform the API migration or reinstall the app. The provider handles the transition.

02

Check the active data source

In Merchant Center, open Settings → Data sources and identify which source now supplies the affected products. Record its feed label and language before changing rules.

03

Export current evidence

Download the affected-products CSV for the broken issue or filter. Export the current source feed that Shopify is sending, rather than relying on an older local copy.

04

Match IDs to current rows

Open the source in FeedPatch, then add the affected-products CSV. Review exact source rows and unmatched IDs. A migration alone should not change product IDs, according to Google.

05

Inspect labels and custom rules

If IDs match but campaign filters or shipping labels stopped working, inspect the current data source, feed-label targeting, custom attributes, and data-source rules in Merchant Center.

06

Change only the proven source

Correct the active source or rule, upload once, and monitor Merchant Center diagnostics. Avoid generating new product IDs merely to make an error disappear.

File evidence first

A matched ID points away from the ID itself.

If affected IDs match the current source, investigate the active data source, feed label, custom labels, and rule targeting. If they do not match, review variant-ID transformations and whether Merchant Center diagnostics refer to a different or older source.

Frequently asked

Before changing product IDs.

Does Shopify’s Merchant API migration change product IDs?

Google’s current Merchant API FAQ says the Google & YouTube app migration does not change product IDs and requires no merchant action. Verify the exported data before assuming the ID itself changed.

Why might campaign filters still break?

Campaign filters can depend on feed labels, custom labels, source selection, and rules. FeedPatch can compare file IDs and rows, but it cannot inspect Google Ads or Merchant Center account settings.

Can I compare an old and new source?

FeedPatch currently joins an affected-ID or supplemental-ID list to one source feed at a time. Run each source separately and compare the exported match maps.

What is free?

The local feed audit, affected-ID matching, exact source rows, unmatched-ID list, and match-map download are free and require no store login.
